I few days ago at the kitchen table we had an important discussion regarding the 'Hokey Pokey'. (We try to encourage highly intellectual conversation at our house).  Anyway, I found it amusing and so I decided to share it with all of you.

Kourtney with a concerned look on her face asked "Dad, why do some people not like do do the Hokey Pokey?"

I was too busy not laughing to give an answer immediately.  Besides a question that fun requires a really well thought out answer.  During my pause Kinsie answered for me.

As if to say 'Duh!', she said "Kourtney, It's because some people think that's not what it's all about!"

We're so proud of our kids.

I had an interesting experience on Thanksgiving which I will share.  I actually had two Thanksgivings.  One with Laura's family which was very Turkey-ey and very mashed potatoes-ey. Of course it sounds funny.  Read on.  I also had a Thanksgiving at work.  People were encouraged to sign up to bring a thanksgiving dinner item to work so we could all be festive and thankful, and a list was sent around.  I noticed that the first item on the list was 'beans'.  Later, 'chicken' and 'rice' were added.

I guess you can be thankful for chicken and rice too, right.  Most of the people I work with are Hispanic and that's what they wanted to bring.

So while eating chicken, hot links, (cops don't eat unless there are hot links at the table.  It's like salt and pepper)rice, beans and tortilla chips with the hottest salsa this side of T.J., I wondered how it was any different from Cinco de Mayo.  I never reached a conclusion.  But it turns out that that food was also terrific and you know what.  I was just as thankful for my 'work meal' (company notwithstanding) as for my family meal.  (I went back for more of the chips and salsa!)

Hope your Thanksgiving brought happiness and valuable memories.

I decided to create a blog. I have two reasons for doing so. The first reason has to do with a blog by a guy named Christopher Clark. He has a blog and his sense of humor reminds me a bit of my own. Or at least of how I perceive my sense of humor, and I imagine that he has a lot of fun doing it, so...I thought I'd give it a whirl. Hopefully it will be enjoyable for others as well as for me.

The second reason is that Laura (my wife, or "she who must be obeyed", which ever you prefer),occasionally posts things that need some, uuum...clarification. It doesn't happen often. She doesn't post the embarrasing things that happen in our home often but has threatened to once or twice and I could need a way to set the record straight now and then.

My biggest problem will be keeping up and making posts now and then. I chose the name mixednutsandstuff begrudgingly. I wanted it to be simply 'mixed nuts', but it was not available. I told Laura that and she thought of a few names involving nuts that she didn't quite think through completely. When spoken out loud, they became a problem. You may have imagined one or two of them yourself. Anyway, mixednutsandstuff it is.

I don't know that I'll be posting anything before Thursday. That being the case, I feel its in order to wish everyone a very happy and thankful Thanksgiving.
